SMAQALbutton

And I'm guessing Summer is in full swing in your house as it is in mine!! It is time to do some serious crafting in this here house!! ♥

Back in May while at Quilt Market, my sweetie friend, Brooke (over at Silly Mama Quilts) and I talked a bunch about doing something together. We kept coming back to this fabulous pattern created by Alexia Abegg called the Marcelle Medallion Quilt (link to her pinterest board with lots of samples!!). We decided we wanted to do a Quilt-Along together!

And we want to invite you along with us on our journey! If you are subscribed to my newsletter, you know all about it, right??? (Subscribe here if you haven't yet! There are some serious goodies in there!!)

Today is the big day to begin!!! YAY!!!

First up, order the book!! You can get a signed copy right here at Alexia's site!!

You are going to love this project!!

Next up, pick your fabrics!!

You may be like me: I'm going to let each section of the project dictate what fabrics I want to use! Overall, I want to use a bunch of different fabric lines, colors with a fun mix of low volumes, too!!

Lines like Gina Martin's Wrens and Friends from Moda…

…or Lotta Jansdotter's Mormor…

…or Sweetwater's Wishes or Elementary…or Ella Jean Jansen's Terra Australis 1 or 2!!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to do the middle medallion with a combo of  BariJ fabrics…her new Emmy Grace line… and of Alexia Abegg's new line with Cotton + Steel, Hatbox!! yay!!

I can't wait to get started!! I do have some finishes to get done before I can really delve into this, but it feels so good to get some great planning done! ♥

I want to just share a few of the goals that I'm going for while adventuring through this project:

  1.  Have a beautiful finished quilt
  2.  Learn new techniques and styles of piecing
  3.  Mindfully piece WELL!! It's okay if the seam ripper is my best friend!! "Do not grow weary of doing good!!"
  4.  Learn my own voice in design that I can use over and over again in my own quilt designs
  5.  Enjoy the process!!!

These goals spur me on in this project, and hopefully they entice you to join me while I join Brooke and we create together!!!

Don't forget to join our Flickr group and our FB Group!! It's going to be awesome!!

Blessings!!
