What if every time we look in the mirror, we see what God sees?

This question popped into my head today after I ran an errand to my local quilt shop. I ran in just for a few moments to pick up a kit that I’m using for a class I’m taking. What surprised me is what happened when I got home from this errand.

This morning I got up with Mr. Gorgeous, threw on a fun outfit, and ran out to make him breakfast. Normally, Mr. Gorgeous works from home, but this week, he is training with some colleagues from the UK in the office. So to bless him, I struggled with my fried egg making (he is the BEST egg maker in the world!!!) and whipped up his breakfast.

I knew I had just enough time to do my 100Days100Blocks block for tomorrow (I love to post before I get out of bed so I don’t forget to post!) before I had to run to the quilt shop. So after I sent Mr. Gorgeous into the adorable Houston traffic, I went upstairs to where the magic happens. I made the block and then jumped into the car and ran over (about 17 mins) to the store.

When I got home from the store, I walked into the bathroom to change my shoes. When I looked in the mirror, I laughed and laughed and laughed.

I had taken such special care of what outfit I was wearing, what shoes I put on (because according to Cinderella, the shoes are EVERYTHING!), and that my hair was decent!! But I totally forgot to come back after breakfast and put make-up on.

Come on, ladies! I know you feel it with me. When we don’t have make-up on, we might as well get comfy in our sweats or yoga pants. At the end of the day, if we haven’t refreshed the face, we feel just a little less than beautiful. When we run into someone at the grocery store, we cower inside and run for the frozen section to hide!

But this morning, I was empowered! I was wearing my cute ballet leggings (from Zoe Drews Fashion), a cute tank my bestie Julie bought me for my birthday, and a new pair of shoes I just got on vacation in Destin Beach. I felt great inside and outside. I didn’t even think about the fact that I didn’t put make-up on. When I looked in the mirror later, it stopped me in my tracks.

It made me think, God doesn’t love me more or less if I wear make-up. He doesn’t love me conditionally. I also thought, wow! I am kinda glad I didn’t remember that I hadn’t put on make-up. What a freedom, huh? What if every time I look in the mirror I see me as God sees me?

You’ll be seeing a lot of this baby here on this blog!!

Are you a parent? You know that feeling when you look at your child? They could have the messiest face (from chocolate, of course!) or the most unkempt hair, or spit-up on their shoulder (real life, friends! real life!!), and you still think they are the most beautiful!!! That is exactly how God sees you…with or without make-up!!

Let me show you how God feels about you…

So God created human beings in his own image.
    In the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.

Genesis 1:27 New Living Translation

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10 New Living Translation

This one’s my fave…

So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.

Deuteronomy 31:6 New Living Translation

Listen to me, all you in distant lands!
    Pay attention, you who are far away!
The Lord called me before my birth;
    from within the womb he called me by name.

Isaiah 49:1 New Living Translation

Guess what? You don’t have to wear make-up to impress me! I love you just the way you are. But if you want to wear it, I won’t judge either. Most likely, you’ll see me with make-up on. I just like the way I look with it on. But if I forget it, I know I’m still loved, cherished, and a child of God!!!

Happy Tuesday!!!

Many blessings, and I’m praying for you!
