Welcome to trendy tuesday at Sally's Ponderings…
Today for our Spotlight on Sale-A-Bration, we have PAPER!!!! WOoohhooooooo!! This means that for every 50$ you spend, you can get FREE PAPER…and pretty paper, too!! This is the new Designer Series Delicate Dots paper! (pg 8 of the SAB catty!)
So with these two Sale-A-Bration items, I created a 12×12 LO, inspired by the LO on page 9 of the Sale-A-Bration catty!!
*I started with a piece of 12×12 white cardstock, two sheets of decorative paper (free with purchase!! WOooot!), a stamp set, two punches, and two pictures that I printed out after using a little Photoshop magic on them…well…not really magic, but Amanda's TaylorMade Designs Photoshop Actions found in her OScraps store!
*I was inspired by the simplicity of the LO on page 9 of the SAB catty, making the design my own by turning it 90 degrees and using bigger pictures.
*I cut four squares 3×3 of the deco paper. *tip..this SU! SAB paper is double sided, so you could use just two sheets to get four different designs. I used two 3×3 green squares, one 3×3 blue square (which is the opposite side of the green paper), and one striped square – also 3×3.
*I placed my pictures and the paper squares in a wide 8 inch strip in the middle of my white paper. To add the extra inch next to the squares, I cut two strips of barely banana paper and scalloped the edges with our scallop punch.
*Yesterday, I was at a good friend's house (she's also an SU! demo), and I learned a really cool technique to create a folded note card using the Top Note die. You can make this card any size up until the top edge of the die. First, fold your cardstock, place it just under your top edge of the die…my cardstock was a bit shorter, but still above the middle of the die.
Place your sizzix sandwich in your Big Shot, and cut away!!
Look at this cute little hidden journaling card for my LO!! Love it!!
*Now, for our embellishments, I used the stamp set with Certainly Celery (a scrap) and stamped with Mellow Moss Classic ink. I stamped the scalloped flower and the five petal flower, then punched them. *tip…remember to stamp first, then turn your punch over so you can see the stamped image while punching! It really works!! For my five petal flower, I punched one out of yellow deco paper and placed them together with an ice rhinestone brad! pretty!!
*Like my inspiration LO, I wanted my daughter's initial on the page, so I took a chipboard tag and added some of that fabulous ribbon we featured last week here! I stamped the little flower in bashful blue classic ink and then used stazon ink to ink my Defining Alpha 'L' … just the uppercase. I could have used a black journaling marker or the Stampin' Write Marker to ink just the upper case, also. I wanted to make sure that black ink would stand out, so I used stazon! love that…and it dries super fast!!! *tip…i left the chipboard plain beside the stamp because it matched two stripes in the striped paper!! that is easy!!
*For the final touches, I stamped the title in Basic Black craft ink (with the stamp set, Celebrate Everything); using the Big Shot, i cut out a little bird from the Birds and Blossoms dies; and I used the celery ribbon from the SAB ribbon bundle across the middle of my page.
*Don't forget your journaling!!!
*tip…click on the picture to see it larger!! teehee!!
