Finish it Friday – the classics and a mystery quilt top

The new year is spurring me on to finish, finish, finish. I’m ready for all of my UFOs (unfinished objects) to be done! But alas, not enough hours in the day. But don’t think I didn’t finish something this week, because I did!! yay! I finished two things! On Instagram, a friend posted a reading challenge called #readtheclassics2018 (go check out the hashtag!!). The challengers posted a list of authors and said we could pick any books written by those 12 authors. I’m a huge sucker for the classics. As a matter of fact, I’ve read at least two books from 8 of the 12 authors. So first, I picked...

Quilter’s Planner Fun + Sampler Block + Sheep!

I’m so excited this year to be using the Quilter’s Planner to help keep my life on track. I was a bit reluctant to stop using my Carpe Diem at first, but I was swayed by the big pages and the timing on the vertical days. And I have other plans for my Carpe Diem that I will be sharing next week on I’ll Take Jesus.   (My links for the Quilter’s Planner are affiliate links which won’t affect your price at all! You, too, can become an affiliate when you purchase your QP2018 through my link; and, I can afford to keep homeschooling my youngest!) This weekend I finished the...

Finish it Friday – FAL 2018 Quarter One

Ohhh I’m excited to get back to posting on Fridays here on Sally’s Angelworks. I’m excited to list out what I want to finish this year. And I’m super excited to actually finish projects this year!! So for the first quarter, I’d love to finish some pretty big hefty projects that I’ve been working on for a while now! Please forgive the fact that I’m still posting some of the same projects that I posted last year. It’s time to stop the distractions and get some awesome finishes done! The first big project I have to finish in the next 6 weeks is our homeschool’s support group’s yearbook from last...

What I’m Wearing Wednesday – the Contrast Panel Tunic

Happy Wednesday!!! For my first handmade outfit share this year, I’ve picked my Contrast Panel Deer Tunic. The pattern I used for this is Alison Glass/Karen LePage’s Woven Essentials Pattern. I created this tunic with fun fabric called Moonshine (designed by Tula Pink) and Art Gallery Denim. I used contrasting half yards of Alison Glass olive and charcoal Chroma fabric for the bodice. One thing I learned making this pattern is that a gathered skirt doesn’t feel good on me. I had it gathered and then wore it a few weeks. I felt frumpy and unkempt. So, I stretched out the front of the skirt and created gathers (mini pleats) in...

What I’m Wearing Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! This year, I’d love to feature a little bit more of my garment sewing for several reasons. First, to give myself accountability to create more clothing for me. As I sew for myself, I get closer to finding my own personal style and what feels good on. Second, I’d love to have you join me on my journey to create a healthier me. No tricks, no special products per se, no diets or gimmicks. Just eating healthily, moving more, and sleeping well. I’ll post here every Wednesday with a newly made outfit for the next three months and share with you how I’m doing with my health journey....

Urbanologie BOM Progress

Here’s a very fun way to create an intricate quilt: Join a BOM and don’t get behind! This year I joined Julie in her BOM (Block of the Month) and Zakka POM (Project of the Month). The BOM is Sew Kind of Wonderful’s Urbanologie Pattern (see the link for the different layouts.) I’m doing Layout #2. (Thanks, Julie, for the pic! The Sew Kind of Wonderful Gals at Quilt Market last fall ❤️) Julie is sending us fabrics that are very similar to the sample quilt. I’m excited to say that I’ve finished the first 5 months. Here are my blocks so far: Month 1 – BirdsBirds! So cute! I...

Acreage Blog Tour – the Kindness version!

I am soooo thrilled to be a part of Shannon Orr‘s Blog Hop for her new fabric line, Acreage! Every Monday for the next three months, she will have different bloggers feature her beautiful fabrics. And I get to start! Yay!! I first met Shannon in line at Sample Spree at Quilt Market when she offered us her tortilla chips!!! Yep, instant friends! How could you not love a girl who quilts, designs fabric and shares her Mexican food??? She’s delightful! And when Acreage came out, I couldn’t wait to get my little hands on it to play!! Before this Spring’s Quilt Market, Shannon sent me some Acreage to create a pillow...
