What I’m Wearing Wednesday – the Valentine’s Coco Dress

Happy Wednesday! This week, I wanted to show you a fun pattern I just got and tried! This is my Coco dress. The pattern is by Tilly and the Buttons. I love how this feels! The fabric is an Art Gallery Knit which is super soft!! The designer is Caroline Hulce from her Happy Home line. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, right??? When I first sewed this, I used a twin needle for the collar, but it didn’t look so good, so I sewed it with a zigzag. I think the twin needle with knits is a very cool technique! I just need to make sure my needles are sharp and...

What I’m Wearing Wednesday – the sally tunic

Happy Wednesday! I’m excited to share with you my tunic journey!!! I started out with a simple tank pattern and a bestie (Julie) with mad fitting skills! This tank HERE was made back in October of 2016. It was my first “sloper” which is a pattern that is fit exactly to my body. Around that time I got really into LulaRoe leggings. They are so soft and buttery…and I want to wear them all the time!! But, I have this thing about covering up my bottom! So, the birth of the sally tunic. I used a dress pattern from the Lotta Jansdotter book Everyday Style to add an A-line-ish skirt to...

What I’m Wearing Wednesday – let’s make a skirt!

So you know me by now, right? I love to make skirts! I usually whip a bunch out for Spring Quilt Market or for Fall Quilt Market. Check out these posts here and here to see past skirts I’ve made. This past fall I got some awesome wonderful fabric from Amanda Herring from her Curiosities fabric and made a cutie skirt. Love these ostriches… A couple of things here: a. Snow on the bench…Houston’s second Ice-mageddon this week! b. The pattern I used was for this skirt was from Deborah Moebes’ Stitch by Stitch. Her A-line skirt.  It’s a super great and fast pattern! What I’m Wearing Wednesday – the Contrast Panel Tunic

Happy Wednesday!!! For my first handmade outfit share this year, I’ve picked my Contrast Panel Deer Tunic. The pattern I used for this is Alison Glass/Karen LePage’s Woven Essentials Pattern. I created this tunic with fun fabric called Moonshine (designed by Tula Pink) and Art Gallery Denim. I used contrasting half yards of Alison Glass olive and charcoal Chroma fabric for the bodice. One thing I learned making this pattern is that a gathered skirt doesn’t feel good on me. I had it gathered and then wore it a few weeks. I felt frumpy and unkempt. So, I stretched out the front of the skirt and created gathers (mini pleats) in...

What I’m Wearing Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! This year, I’d love to feature a little bit more of my garment sewing for several reasons. First, to give myself accountability to create more clothing for me. As I sew for myself, I get closer to finding my own personal style and what feels good on. Second, I’d love to have you join me on my journey to create a healthier me. No tricks, no special products per se, no diets or gimmicks. Just eating healthily, moving more, and sleeping well. I’ll post here every Wednesday with a newly made outfit for the next three months and share with you how I’m doing with my health journey....
