Acreage Blog Tour – the Kindness version!

I am soooo thrilled to be a part of Shannon Orr‘s Blog Hop for her new fabric line, Acreage! Every Monday for the next three months, she will have different bloggers feature her beautiful fabrics. And I get to start! Yay!!

I first met Shannon in line at Sample Spree at Quilt Market when she offered us her tortilla chips!!! Yep, instant friends! How could you not love a girl who quilts, designs fabric and shares her Mexican food??? She’s delightful! And when Acreage came out, I couldn’t wait to get my little hands on it to play!!

Before this Spring’s Quilt Market, Shannon sent me some Acreage to create a pillow for her.

Here’s the result:

I’m so excited about this pillow!! This was another collaboration between Cora and me. We figured out which quote we wanted to use based on Shannon’s cool pear fabric. Both Cora and I saw the vine/roots idea pop out when looking at the focus fabric. Amelia Earhart’s quote was perfect for this fabric line. Also, Shannon herself threw out roots of kindness when offering her tortilla chips…just sayin’!! So Cora lettered the quote, created her garland embellishment, and handed the pattern over to me to embroider it!

This is the pillow in Shannon’s booth at Spring Quilt Market this past May in Salt Lake City. Isn’t her booth darling?

I’d love to share with you how I made this pillow.

I have to say that Shannon was such a sweetie with this new fabric release. She also sent me a BIG box of Acreage scraps with some pretty big scraps in there!! #blissfullife

So I did what any self-respecting modern traditional quilter would do: I created a mini sampler quilt for my table top.

I used the sewing technique of improv mixed with traditional block ideas to create four 17″ blocks. I added just a little bit of white Moda Bella fabric to add my embroidery. I also added a little bit of old lace. And buttons were the perfect finish to this little sweet table topper.
