{finish it friday…the freedom version!!}

Happy Fourth of July for all of my American readers out there!! Happy belated Canada Day for my Canadian friends!! and happy Friday to all of my International friends!!!

We have been getting our house all spiffied up for our party this week, and I've been getting my sweet oldest daughter ready for her trip abroad for which she leaves in 5 days!! Eeeeeek!!!

But alas, that is not the finish I have to show you, although it is related to her somewhat…

Last Sunday she and my sister-in-law had a fun combined birthday party…

a Crazy Cat Lady party…

Here's my daughter and her boyfriend all kittied up for the party in the fun photobooth that Cora set up!

And here is my mom (in the middle), my daughter, and my sister-in-law!!

My sister-in-law (my husband's sister) was called "Feather" when she was little. So, I decided to make her a feather quilt to go with a feather pillow I made for her for Christmas!

You've seen the sneaky peeks like this one…

or this one more recently…

Here is the finished quilt!!!

My awesome friend, Pam Quiltaholic Biswas quilted it for me!!! And it is stunning!

She outlined each feather and then did a nested teardrop around the rest of it!! The borders were quilted with feathers!! (appropriate, no?)

I used Anna Marie Horner's feather pattern HERE to make the feathers and then I was inspired by Artful Life's version HERE

But in the end, I made it my own! Or really, DeAnna's, right?? (I had to pull it away from Mr Gorgeous…his sister almost didn't get it from him!!)

Fun label Pam had given me a while back!

She got my first twill tag, too!!! So fun!!!

Ohhhh those feathers!! on the back, even! Beautiful!!

I thought it was going to take me a million years, but once I got to chain piecing (which I need to remember to do a lot more!!), it went together really fast!!

It ended up 80"x84"!

And I'm pretty sure she loved it!!

Ohhh…and as a little aside…I made my sweetie pie daughter a little mug rug to give to her at the party…

Cute, huh???? (the polaroid is from a swap from last year!)

Love those crazy cat ladies!!

(yep…we are all crazy cat ladies!! here I'm with my niece, Livy!)

Have a great celebration today!!

I'm linking up with crazy mom quilt's finish it up fridays!
